Since the EU Block Exemption Regulation 1400/2002' (in short BER) came into force in October 2003 the
Vehicle purchasing and repair industry has undergone a radical change.
YOU, the motorist, NO LONGER have to go to the main dealer to have your car serviced or repaired, as is popularly believed "To keep up your warranty." You only have to take your car to the main agent's for warranty work
With the introduction of Block Exemption the vehicle manufacturers warranties are NO LONGER reliant on YOU, the consumer, taking your vehicle to a garage in the main dealer network. The European Commission deemed that this would be "an unjustified restriction on the consumer."
You can now choose the "quality independent garage" you wish to take your car to, and provided that your vehicle is serviced using the manufacturers schedules & recorded and repaired within the manufacturers guidelines, with dealer quality parts.
